The term "strong productivity growth" always cracks me up. Well actually, depresses me. As in the attached NYT article, it basically means companies are doing more with less. Less what you ask? Most corporations (especially the big ugly ones) will tell you it's technological advances that help them gain productivity. That's always partly true, but the lions share of productivity "gains" continue to come in the form of paying employees less, denying benefits, or figuring out ways to get people to work harder and get less in return.
